WOMMA (The Word of Mouth Marketing Association) is holding its next Word of Mouth Marketing Summit in Washington, D.C. on December 12 and 13. It should be a great event. There will be more than 70 speakers, several big-name authors, and three incredible keynotes all talking about word of mouth marketing.
If you are interested in word of mouth, viral, buzz, or blog marketing, you should try to make it to this conference. You can register online at www.womma.org/summit2.
Andy Sernovitz, WOMMA’s founding CEO, is somebody I have known for a couple of years now. He taught a terrific class while I was at Wharton; he is the CEO of GasPedal; he organizes regular CEO-only dinners in NYC that became known as incredible opportunities to network amongst the technology, media and marketing crowds; and although he might not know it, he was actually very inspirational for me in the early days of my work to launch buySAFE. With Andy involved, WOMMA has blossomed into a terrific organization that is changing the way marketers think about their craft.
Again, I highly recommend you try to make it to the WOMMA Summit in DC in December, and if you haven’t already joined WOMMA as a member, you should do that as well in order to stay up to date on the latest and greatest regarding word of mouth marketing.
One last comment, Andy Sernovitz just completed a book called "Word of Mouth Marketing: How Smart Companies Get People Talking". The buzz from a few of my friends is that the book is terrific. I am about to start reading it, but it must be pretty good because Seth Godin provided the foreword, and Guy Kawasaki provided the afterword. I will give you my review after I finish the read, but you should check it out as well.
